I have exited successful startups and I have recently launched another successful startup. I have been part of many successful startups, for example I was a member of the DASH FOUNDATION. In late 2014 I proposed to E. Duffield we redirect some Masternode rewards to fund projects that advanced the Dash ecosystem (an idea that BTCtalk whale Otoh and I dreamed up now referred to as "inflation funding"). Evan loved it and the team ran w/ it, delivering the 2015 white paper "Gov by Blockchain". This would create an incredible feedback loop that would attract devs, capitalize numerous Dash startups, and drive the market cap from $15M to $1B+. It's been a huge success.
