I have a business idea that I deeply believe in, but I know that doesn’t make me unique. Where I may start to differentiate somewhat from others is in the area of execution. It takes tremendous persistence and follow-through to get a business off the ground and I’ve been told I’m strong in that area. In the sports world I’m what you’d call a “finisher” – if I’m going to do something I’m not going to do it halfway. I’m an open-minded collaborator and throughout my career my skillset has meshed well with those different from my own. I understand that everybody brings something to the table, and my leadership style is to get the best and most useful input from each individual. I’m also an ethical entrepreneur mindful of how actions impact reputation, and I always seek to do the right thing – by my partners, my customers, and anyone who comes within the sphere of my business. I believe it’s possible to have a successful, profitable business while also doing good for the world, and I never lose sight of that regardless of how successful a business becomes.
I’m a mobile app entrepreneur seeking a technical cofounder to partner with in creating a new app concept in the social connections space. This position would come with an equity stake in the company - it is not a salaried position. What I'll say here about the app concept is that in a world where "everything's been done," this concept hasn't, because it's a social connections/dating app designed for the how the world has changed in the last few years. The company is past the idea and research phase. At this stage a thorough UX document exists that maps out every tap in the app, and design and branding are basically complete. What I'm looking for is a technical cofounder who 1) believes in the idea and is willing to invest their time in it (in exchange for partial ownership) and 2) has the necessary programming skills to bring the app to life through launch and beyond.
The minimum requirement for my technical cofounder is that you're a mobile development wizard. If you have "some experience" with mobile dev or "can hold your own" in that area, this opportunity is not for you. I'm looking for a highly talented mobile engineer who can take a document full of intuitive user flows and turn them into a slick, fluid app. This is not to say the app is rocket science but it's not the simplest app either. For an ambitious mobile developer looking for a worthy challenge, I believe building, maintaining, and growing the functionality of this app over time will be fulfilling work. Also notice I didn't say an "experienced" mobile developer. Experience is great and would certainly be welcomed, but more than anything I'm looking for a TALENTED developer. If you're a 20-year-old mobile dev prodigy looking to do something entrepreneurial with your free time, let's talk. If you're a seasoned mobile programmer with a dozen successful apps to your credit, let's talk. I truly have no preconceptions for who my technical cofounder should be with regard to age or experience. The only firm requirement is that you're a mobile development ace.
Ideally your programming skillset would encompass both iOS and Android, but initially I will be focused on iOS and developing an app for the App Store. The expectation is that you would be the sole programmer building the app, and that you would be able to handle the full development workload until the time comes when we start assembling a programming team. At that time your responsibilities would shift to be more CTO-like, overseeing a team of developers and driving the culture of that team, but you would still be the primary keeper of the code.
If you're intrigued by anything I've said here, I hope we'll connect and I can tell you more.
Thanks.
