Have you had success with remote CTO or CMO?

# co-founder
# remote co-founder

Since i had posted the search, some offered to be remote co-founder but i don't like the idea. I prefer someone whom i can work together face-to-face. What is your recommendation?

The things that matter most are consistency, reliability and commitment for at least two years time.

If these requirements are met, you can accelerate your startup. Remote doesn't matter.

However, having worked in both scenarios, I prefer in person collaboration.

Because

One of the hardest parts of running a startup is maintaining your own psychology; feeling that you're in it with someone else helps maintain focus. It's harder to feel this way remote.

Totally agree with Marcus. I have launched a start-up (language learning app in Australia) with my partner 2 years ago and it goes super well. We are both motivated and we are still working on it every day. It really depends on your psychology and motivation. If the idea of creating and working on that startup makes you get up from your bed every day - no matter where the co-founder lives, you will succeed.

The biggest challenge with on-premise cofounder is it restricts you from finding the best match as you have put a location constraint on yourself.

Especially when you are looking for a CTO with the right technical skills, business thinking and a belief in your vision can take up a lot of time and cost.

I don't think it should be set as a priority. From my own experience of working with local and remote global teams is that communication is key.

My strongest tips from what I have experienced:

Have daily meetings without an agenda Say good morning, hi, how are you, how's the family, I saw a movie - Every Day It will take 5 minutes but provide a deeper connection between you and your team building a bond, emotional connection, and sense of reliability.

Share how you're feeling, regularly This is not a set time but should occur regularly. Feeling frustrated at something, send them a message. Stress getting to you, give them a call. Need support, ASK.

Celebrate often Every week you should celebrate something, even if its just that its one more week in your relationship. Celebrating and sharing joy provides a big boost in motivation and helps you realize the accomplishments your doing. 1 New newsletter sign up? Its Progress.... Celebrate it.

Dream Together Regularly talk about your vision, how you think things will be in 1 year, 5 years - professionally and personally. The clearer you can see the future, the easier it will be to focus on getting there. If you only focus at your feet (where you are now) you won't see the tree that you're about to walk into on your path to success.

P.S. I am a mindset coach so a lot of these things apply across life, not just founder relations.
